Concept of health team
The practice of modern medicine has become a joint effort of many groups of workers, both medical and non-medical, that is, physicians, HAS, TBAS, nurses, FWVs, social workers and a host of others.
The hospital team is different from the team that works in the community. Whether it is a hospital team or community health work team, it is important for each team member to have a specific and recognized function in the team and to have freedom to exercise his particular skills.
Definition of health team:
It is a group of persons who share a common health goal and objectives. determined by community needs and toward the achievement of which each member of the team contributes in accordance with his/her competence and skills and respecting the functions of the others.

Composition of Health Team:
- A team leader – Who guides and supervise the team
- Health professionals
- Auxiliaries Who has less than full professional qualifications supervised by a professional worker
- Ancillary – Carrier, driver, messenger, guard, bearer etc.
Criteria of a health team:
- A health team is composed of health professionals, auxiliaries and other supportive members.
- Health team is guided and supervised by a team leader.
- For the proper functioning of the health team it is important for each team member to have specific job description; the channel of communication and the line of authority should be clearly understood by the team members.
- The health team concept should be applicable to the PHC level.
