Community health

Definition:

A cluster of people with at least one common characteristic (geographic location. occupation, ethnicity, housing condition etc.). The characteristics of a community are –

1. The community is a contiguous geographic area.
2. It is composed of people living together. mestila
3. People co-operate to satisfy their basic needs.
4. There are common oragnizations, e.g., markets, schools & other educational institutions. hospitals, banks, hotels etc.

Community health:

It encompasses all the activities involving health and environmental services in any community, irrespective of whether such services are public or private one.

Criteria of community health system:

1. Appropriate and relevent to the priority needs and demands of the people.to allowin
2. Comprehensive It should have the right mix of promotive, preventive, cuartive and rehabilitative services as necessary

3. Adequate – Satisfying the needs of the people.
4. Available to all care seekers. 
5. Accessible to every care seeker.
6. Affordable – Should be obtained within the purchasing capacity. 
7. Feasible – It should be managerial, economical and technical applicability.

Health care:

Health care is defined as multitude of the services rendered to the individuals, families. and community by the agent of the health services, for the purpose of promoting, maintenance, monitoring and restoration of health.
