Behaviour Change Communication
Definition:
Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) is a research based process of addressing knowledge, attitudes and practices of specific groups of people in order to develop or change behaviour.
Componenets of BCC/Steps to Behavior Change:
Knowledge:
a. One first learns about a new behaviour (such as, injection safety practices)
b. Recalls messages on injection safety and understands meaning of the messages
c. Can name injection safety strategies and practices
Approval:
a. One then approves of the new behaviour (injection safety strategies)
b. Responds favourably to injection safety messages
c. Discusses injection safety with personal network (professional colleagues, family and friends)
d. Thinks professional colleagues, family, friends and community approves of injection safety practices

Intention:
a. One then believes this behaviour is beneficial to them and intends to adopt it.

C. Intends to adopt injection safety practices.
Practice:
One then attempts the new behaviour and continues to practice.
Advocacy:
a. Then one can promote the new behavior through their social or professional networks as a satisfied practitioner.
b. Experiences and acknowledges personal benefits of adopting behaviors that enhance injection safety.
How to proceed for effective motivation:
